Artist Statement
Memory is the most prominent theme within my work. I am thinking about cumulative memories and the presence they take as they move into the present, it is impossible to separate the reflection on my memories with the lived experience during them. Memory can never be completely disconnected from experience. We inhabit our body and move about the world as our memories accumulate, meaning that the body is implied through perception, as it is through the body that experiences are able to be lived and observed at all. My work particularly focuses on the emotions I experience and the processes with which I work through these emotions. The intention of my work is to create atmospheric qualities and sensations that evoke the mood of an experience in time. Most commonly these sensations are qualities individually and internally perceived.
